Westinghouse Model RADA Receiver with Volarola Loudspeaker
1920
The broadcast era was officially kicked off by Westinghouse in 1920 with the simultaneous launch of KDKA, the first commercial broadcast station, and the RADA, the first radio receiver designed for the home. The set is shown here with it's companion Volarola loudspeaker, fashioned after the horn of a Model-T automobile.
